Description
Chuck Gorton here from Avalanche Safety Solutions, using my personal account to test the waters and take advantage of my good feedback. I am the North American distributor of Snowpulse Avalanche Airbags. This is a new avalanche airbag on the market which has some great features including: an airbag which provides trauma protection to an avalanche victim and aims to keep their head on the surface, very lightweight (only 3.0kg with a full cylinder for the 30L), and uses a cylinder filled with compressed air. It also has a bunch of other really nice features like a cylinder with a gauge, a quick release buckle, a separate pocket for your probe and shovel, back venitlation, and a bunch more. Anyways you can find all of the details on our website, and please go to our website to check out all of the details. Snowpulse packs shipped to the US will come with an empty cylinder. There are easy options to fill them, you can find them on our website and we ship all packs with filling instructions. We have sold loads of these up in Canada and have had many customers trading in their old packs. The response has been great. and if you don't know much about airbags I strongly encourage you to do some research, with out a doubt they offer you the greatest chance of survival if you are caught in an avalanche. Check out the stats at the bottom of this page. This pack is brand new. The 30L comes in a long and a short, we recommend the long for anyone 5'9 and over. You can choose which size you want when you win. The 30L is the ideal pack for most sledders and ski tourers. It has two main compartments, one for a probe and shovel and one for everything else. The pack has compression straps so if you are not using all the space you can cinch it down to make it really low profile on your back. The 30L has the following features: - Snowpulse airbag system - Lightweight, only 3.0 kg with the cylinder. - 150L airbag and all safety features - Reinforced stitching - Quick release aluminum waist buckle - 2 large vertical compartments, probe and shovel handle sleeve - Back ventilation - Snowpulse cylinder - Sunglass pocket - Snowboard and ski carrying system - Ice axe holder - Hydration system compatible Normal 0 false false false EN-CA X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The following information is provided from Time is Life DVD, edited and approved by the International Commission of Alpine Rescue. ICAR – MEDCOM, CISA-IKAR Avalanche Commission. SWISS Stats. 2005   They examined 2000 Avalanche incidents and found the following: -          Overall 22% mortality rate. -           Only 4.4% of people who were not buried, or only partially buried died! -           51.3% chance of death for people who were completely buried. -           Likely that partial burials go unreported lowering the 4.4%. Now for the airbag statistics: 1991-2004:  77 reports of airbag inflation.                        76 Survived, 1 Died                        10 completely buried but airbags were visible on the surface.                        9 cases where airbags were not deployed. The same avalanches caught  25 people who were not wearing airbags. Of these 12 were completely buried, 9 were found dead. Airbags lowered the probability of a complete burial from 47.1% to 13% and the mortality rate 35.3% to 1.3%! ICAR conclusion : Statistical evidence for airbags is good to very good. “It is the device of choice”. Point of Interest: Same study revealed transceivers reduced the median burial time 170-20 minutes, but the mortality rate only 79% to 50%!
