Description
Antique 1882 Hopkins Billiard Recorder Clock and Case Offered here is a well working clock and wooden encasement of a Hopkins Billiard Recorder from circa 1882. The mechanism was used to record play time - a client would pay for the epected play, then the clerk would wind the bell and the clock for the desired time - the loud bell would ring at the completion of the time. Why it records half hours is a mystery - if someone has an explanation, please send a note. Clock face is 12 inches in diameter Large hand stenciled lettering/numbers Single time indicating dial Numerical counter records the half hours Glass front is in excellent condition Bell winds and is in excellent working order Original winding key Clock winds easily and is in perfect working order Mounted on a quarter-sawn oak case of approx. 5 x 14 x 18 inches, mahogany back Surface still retains the original French polish and shows only signs of wear from use English patent number 6100/15 date from 1882 Numbered 23131 and initialed "TH" (for T. Hopkins??) This would be an excellent addition to a collection of billiard/pool memorabilia collection or a superb addition to a period room.
