See more about 'CYPRESS GARDENS VINTAGE CYPRESS TRAINERS' Description Vintage 1964 Cypress Gardens 'Trainers'. 48". All original. Very good condition. As the name and size implies these skis were used to teach younger skiers. The skis were linked together in the front and back. The front rope linking the skis together was tied in such a way so as to let a water ski handle be attached to one portion of the link and a ski rope be attached to the boat on another portion of the same link. The skis were also attached in the back. This combination assured the beginning skier of direct pull from the boat at very slow speeds while the skis stayed together allowing the skier to hang on to a handle attached to the skis at the same time. Introduced in the early 1960's Cypress Gardens produced two types of 'Trainer' skis. The smaller version as seen here and a 68" adult 'Trainer' version as well. Bright and colorful as always are the Cypress Gardens emblems. The Cypress Trainers logo as well as the other markings stand out boldly. The bindings are soft and pliable. They would rate a '10' if not for some minor dirt smudges. The varnish on the skis is in good shape for the most part. The wood is in good condition. There is some staining underneath some of the varnish cause by the wood itself in different areas. Lack of varnish and dry conditions over the years have caused some splitting on the bottom of both skis.(see photos) The Cypress Gardens 'Trainers' truly are a collectors item.
